BRAND STORY

Tradescant & Son is an exciting and innovative new design studio in the heart of the Ribble Valley. Our debut collection, ‘The Curator’ is comprised of dramatic and luxurious printed linens and co ordinating wallpapers. This has been joined by another mini collection “The Botanist” which is a further extension of this extraordinary “drama”! Our often quirky and exclusive designs take inspiration from the works of John Tradescant, the 17th Century Gardener and Collector.

John Tradescant’s fascinating collection of curiosities at Lambeth, which later (and controversially) formed the beginnings of the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford today, has inspired our bird, bone, animal, insect and botanically influenced prints, all of which have been meticulously drawn and coloured by hand. John Tradescant had a remarkable passion for the natural world and for cabinets of curiosity, which was the fashion in Europe in those times and this spirit is evident throughout our collection.

Our designs are all hand drawn with intricate detailing, then meticulously coloured to create a stunning pattern. We then digitally print them onto beautiful 100% linen, ultimately showing nature in all its glory! Our fabric is woven to our specification and all of our printing is carried out by the finest weavers and printers in England. The designs are currently available on an off-°©‐white oyster and a beautiful natural undyed flax coloured linen. Our 100% linen is hard wearing and extremely versatile.

We have chosen some of our favourite images from our stunning designs and highlighted them to perfection -°©‐ creating furnishings to complement our fabric and wallpapers, or to add interest to any scheme! We are also working on adding a selection of rugs to our portfolio, which we hope will further enhance any design scheme and offer a sense of cohesion when used with our fabrics and wallpapers.

In addition to Lampshades, Cushions and Rugs, we also have a fascinating range of greetings cards, which utilise the same remarkable hand drawings we use to create our fabric designs. These cards are printed in the UK and have a compostable sleeve.
