BRAND STORY

Poppy Porter loves jewellery, making it, wearing it and matching what she makes with the right woman to wear it. Jewellery is complicated. It often spans lifetimes, generations, emotions, life situations, memories and attachments in a way clothes andmany other objects do not. Think about your jewellery, why are you wearing it? How does it make you feel? What is the story behind it?

Poppy's jewellery springs from her love of music. She channels the energy and emotion of music through her synaesthesia to make unconventional jewellery. Her synaesthesia takes the form of seeing sound. She has a strong visual impression of shape, colour, movement and sometimes texture when she listens to music. Poppy has been Surrey based and an artist jeweller for over 15 years. During that time, she has worked on a variety of exciting projects and commissions. She has worked closely with museums internationally. She has designed a collection for the British Museum's exhibition, "Shunga: Sex and Pleasure in Japanese Art". One of her larger necklaces is now in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts.

She has exhibited internationally with galleries in Italy, Germany, the UK, USA and China. and even painted a cow for the Mayor of Guildford during the Surrey Cow Parade. Poppy has completed commissions for many contemporary jewellery lovers, making the most unusual jewellery of the highest quality. In pursuit of that, over the last decade and a half, she has acquired and practised many skills to develop her jewellerymaking. She believes in lifelong learning and investment in her skillset is always rewarded in the quality of what she makes.Poppy feels making jewellery is what she was put on earth to do. She loves music and her unusual relationship with it. She wants to make jewellery like her favourite musicians make music; glorious, a little dark, maybe even a bit weird, but embracing, energising, glamorous, layered and complex...Poppy wants you to be able to take a piece of her jewellery full of this energy, add your story to it and strengthen yourself with it.
